The Comenius multilateral project entitled "European Fableway to Human Values" (euf@bles2v@lues) brings together institutions from six European countries - Romania, France, Poland, Cyprus, Greece and Italy, and it has been developed taking into consideration the fact that human values are often forgotten in our present society and people and especially our children need to be reminded of them and they need to cherish them. The target group is formed of pupils aged 12-14, who are at the age when they can be educated according to the moral values of humanity, shaping their character beautifully and helping them to become better adults. The project is meant to offer opportunities for ethnical, cultural and mental interrelations on a profound topic, of an essential ontological dimension, which exposes the negative aspects of the human character or of the society in general, with a moralizing purpose. Pupils will discover, study, translate, narrate and dramatize ancient and modern European fables, taken from the literature of the participating countries. Working on this topic, the involved parts will have the opportunity to draw conclusions on the intercultural type of European stories and through this procedure they will also get to meet and learn about each others' culture. The main end products of the project are: project website, a book of fables with illustrations and audiobook, booklet with essays written by pupils, a DVD with role plays. Pupils will also make puppets and perform a puppet show at the end of the second year for the staff and other pupils and also for the local community. PROJECT OBJECTIVES AND STRATEGY The objectives of the partnership are for our pupils: - to identify and study the human values in contrast with the non-values exposed and criticized in fables - to adopt a behaviour based on positive human values, essential for their personal development - to respect and promote the human values - to promote common moral and literary values by studying fundamental literary works of the cultures involved
The project deals with negative human values opposed to positive ones, as they are revealed in the fables of the literatures of the partner countries. Pupils need to be educated to make the right decisions regarding the behaviour they adopt because this is an indication of the kind of person they are. Pupils will also learn which are the common values of the human character and thus, they will be able, as adults, to live as good European citizens and educate their own children in the spirit of the commonly accepted European human values.
In order to achieve the objectives of the partnership, all activities will be pupils-centred, involving both research and practical work, that will be done in a cross-curricular approach. In each partner school, pupils will work individually while doing research and writing personalized essays and they will work in pairs or groups when translating and illustrating fables or when they perform the puppet show. Pupils will be the centre of attention so they will be the ones who decide how they are doing the research or how they divide the work among themselves. Also, most of the local project activities will be done during classes so the project will be included in the school curriculum, involving many of the subjects pupils study.
